Cam and Alex’s wedding day was unlike any wedding day I’ve ever captured.
Last Fall, when we met for their engagement session at Indiana University in Bloomington, I was struck by their tender chemistry — the way Cam looks at Alex when she isn’t watching, how she smiles at him like no one else, and how they’re happiest when they’re together. Alex is beautiful, smart and classy, and Cam’s gentle smile and humor is a perfect match. I’ve enjoyed getting to know the two them, and their new pup, Lionel.
When the wedding day was on the horizon, everything was coming together perfectly until Indiana’s wildcard showed up at the last minute: a forecast of 100% rain. I reached out to Alex and assured her we’d put together the perfect rain plan. After all, she had booked 2 of the most beautiful venues in Indianapolis: St. John the Evangelist and the Omni Severin Hotel. We knew it was a matter of finding the right location for their first look and portraits.
Emily Ventura Designs and I brainstormed a Plan B like never before. On Friday before the wedding I raced to Garfield Park Conservatory and secured one of their illusive 1-hour photography permits. Shooting in this tropical paradise was a dream (and a welcome retreat from the constant rain).
Looking back, I couldn’t be happier with how this collection was created and believe it’s a beautiful tribute to the perfect wedding day for Cam and Alex.
