Jon and I have known each other since middle school, and I remember reading about his engagement to Robin: an epic proposal in Salzburg, Austria, on their way to dinner at the oldest restaurant in Europe. (It doesn't get much more romantic.) It was even more meaningful, because they met there years earlier, while studying abroad.
Jon and Robin both love to travel and explore new places together. They love new cities, restaurants, pubs, and golf courses, sunrises, sunsets, hiking, biking and the beach. Their decision to return to the mountains of Jon's hometown in central PA was based on the sweeping views from Jon's childhood backyard. All of their wedding guests, especially Robin's family from Southern California, were delighted with the lush mountain views.
I had a wonderful time getting to know Robin, during the planning process. She's beautiful and intense and feminine and elegant. Her ballet background was so apparent on the wedding day, as she floated along in her blush-colored Lazaro dress. Her details were flawless, from her gorgeous shoes, rose-colored invitations, pearls gathered on a trip in Florence, and lovely bottle of Coco Chanel. I loved photographing the unique touches she chose, and enjoyed my time with her and the girls, as they got ready together at the historic Herdic House Inn in Williamsport.
They were married in a small red-doored chapel, down the hillside from the reception. There were so many thoughtful details during their wedding. Since they met in Austria and they both love the Alps, they incorporated Bavarian elements throughout the reception. They served delicious beer and soft pretzels, as well as a Bavarian-inspired menu and fresh gingerbread cookies. Each table was decorated with fresh garden rose bouquets, inside beer steins.
I loved returning "home" to Central PA for this wedding. It was fun to reconnect with a childhood friend and meet his beautiful bride. They have already had so many adventures together, and it's a delight to see what photos they're posting from their adventures. All the best, Jon and Robin. Thank you for the privilege of capturing this important day in the story of your life together. (Give those two gorgeous golden retrievers a scratch behind the ears for me.)
