I have been loving my couples this year. When I first met with Paul and Andrea, I knew their wedding was going to be all about relationships with a clean, modern style. Paul was the one who initially emailed me and set up our meeting. He was involved throughout the booking process and they worked together as a team, making decisions about various details. They found me on Instagram (which is a high compliment to a photographer -- it's basically a social platform in the form of portfolio. I've found a lot of my newer clients through IG and am happy to know that they're booking me based on my styled and aesthetic).
For this blog post, I thought it would be fun to do a Q+A and give you a feel for how Paul + Andrea met, when they fell in love and more about their story. (And, of course, share some beautiful pictures from their gorgeous wedding in Downtown Indianapolis.)
How did you meet?
Paul: I was hanging out with my close friend one day when he mentioned we were going to meet up with his girlfriend at the time and her “Venezuelan” friend (Andrea). The first night we met, we talked and laughed together as a group; we had a great time. After a couple more quick get-togethers, Andrea finally asked, “When are you going to take me on a real date?”. I immediately asked her out to dinner on a Wednesday evening. Her parents gave me 2.5 hours to work with before I had to have her home. We went to dinner and grabbed some coffee afterwards. Throughout the evening, our conversations were effortless. It felt as though we have known each other for years. It was the best first date I’ve ever had.
When did you know it was forever?
Paul: There wasn't an exact moment that we knew. It was over time we became so close that we always wanted to be around each other and talk to each other. The feeling grew over time where we couldn't see our lives without each other in it to share the ups and downs. We both knew we were looking for something serious. Once we experienced those feelings, we knew this relationship would be forever.
What are your Top 3 favorite things to do together?
1. Food! Finding new places to eat.
2. Traveling the world
3. Experiencing new things
(Did you catch that gift to Andrea from Paul? Yes, skydiving during their honeymoon in Hawaii. It will be Paul's first time jumping out of an airplane. They are serious about "experiencing new things" together.)
And now for one of my favorite venues in Indy...the rooftop at Regions Tower. I love this venue for a number of reasons, mostly because the views are extraordinary, there's so much gorgeous natural light and the food is fantastic. What made Paul and Andrea's ceremony so incredibly unique was the joy on Andrea's face, walking down the aisle to Paul...the rousing match of Rock-Paper-Scissors for who would say their vows first...and the confetti explosion at "I now introduce to you, Mr. + Mrs. Ramnarain." It was epic.
We snuck away during dessert to snag some of my favorite pictures from the day, just Paul + Andrea....on top of the world at sunset.
Their first dance was "Say You Won't Let Go" by James Arthur and it was just perfect.
And, then, the party started. This was my first Venezuelan Crazy Hour. The DJ nailed it. The crowd LOVED it. The whole wedding party got involved. There was loud, pumping latino music. There were props galore. Everyone was smiling. It was such a blast.
The night ended with a beautiful sparkler dance, Long's Donuts (Score!), and shots of Fireball. Paul + Andrea, you guys have some amazing friends and family. What a JOY it was, capturing your wedding story -- meeting all your guests from India, Thailand, Canada + Venezuela. I hope you're having an amazing time in Hawaii! See you soon. --Ash
