I am not a writer. I'm horrible with grammar and spelling and all the things...I'm not sure how I ever ended up in AP English and I'm still wondering how I passed. SO, this quote resonates with me. It describes at a base level what photography is all about: communicating without words.
When I walk into an engagement session, I have a lot of goals for that session. I want to get to know a couple (that has just entrusted me with a very important task on their wedding day). I want to learn and capture all the chemistry and personality that makes them unique and tells their story, as a couple. And I want my work to evoke emotion.
This emotion-capturing is sometimes easy (some couples just don't care who's watching or they just feel more comfortable in front of the camera) and sometimes difficult (because having a big black camera and a stranger in your face can be intimidating -- this one I can relate to). My hope is that I can use the engagement session to put my couples at ease, bring out their natural beauty as created people and become a trusted friend for the wedding day.
Cam and Alex were an absolute joy to photograph and I feel like this session really captured WHO they are as a couple. Cam is fun-loving and makes Alex laugh and blush and glow. He desperately loves her. Alex is beautiful and gentle and smart. She's eloquent and thoughtful. Their relationship is so beautiful and I'm excited to share this session with you, today...if anything, to see if it evokes emotion and shows you the power of photography to speak.
